Our foam ‘topos’ are CNC machined, resulting in a high level of precision and a high-tolerance fit of buildings into the machined pockets. The layout of the road systems are also inscribed onto the surface of each contour step, allowing us to begin painting immediately, without having to tediously locate their position on the site by hand.
This model was intended to show topography in the stepped condition, whereas other models are smoothed and landscaped for a realistic appearance. The golden California summer grasses and roads were painted on the surface of the foam. At this scale, trees are shown clump-style, not individually, and buildings are shown with accurate roof shapes but no details.
