1100 Broadway Oakland, CA
1/32"=1' scale 10" x 7" x 9" feat. building

Various materials and model making processes were used to produce the right ‘soft’ look and feel for presentation to the City of Oakland.  They now have a suitable long-term promotion piece as the project is further designed and developed toward final approvals and construction.  The context was made of basswood, and included an existing building on the site that showed a higher level of detail by layering architectural elements in its facade.  It also included a simple representation of the new proposed ‘green’ roof.  The feature building was primarily constructed of laser cut, scored acrylic which was then back-painted and tinted.  We used custom-made painted brass etchings for the long vertical windmill element and the horizontal eyebrows, since they needed to be rigid and remain stable at this small scale.
